Zenimax Online Studios comes out of hiding with new entry in critically acclaimed series

Elder Scrolls MMO revealed

Zenimax Online Studios is developing an MMO for its blockbuster franchise The Elder Scrolls, it has been revealed.

As reported by Game Informer, the latest entry into the series, will be the first release by the developer, set up in 2007, with Bethesda not working on the title.

The game will be set one thousand years before Skyrim, with the story to focus on the Daedric prince Molag Bal as he reaps havoc across Tamriel.

The title will feature three separate factions and player-driven PVP conflict.

It is currently slated to be released next year on PC and Mac.

"It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years," said game director Matt Firor.

"The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise."

Zenimax Online Studios was formed in 2007 in Maryland, US, and has since been working on an ‘unannounced title’, suggesting the game had been in development for at least the last four years.

The developer has a reported studio headcount of around 200 employees.
