Square Enix launches India game dev contest

Publishing giant Square Enix has launched a new game development contest in India, it has announced.

Teams in the new competition must have at least one member based in India, with eligible development platforms including smartphone, tablet and browser.

The contest will be open to both professionals and amateurs, with the top prize currently standing at more than £11,000, whilst seven awards are also available for the runners-up.

The competition has been created to help “invigorate” the Indian games industry, and help encourage developers to improve and create international recognition for the local development hub.

The deadline for submissions is September 30th, with results expected to be announced on December 20th.
