A Tetris film is in the works

Threshold Entertainment and The Tetris Company are teaming up to make a feature length film based on the classic video game.

The production company plans to turn Tetris into an "epic science fiction" movie. For those curious, Threshold was the company behind the two 1990s Mortal Kombat films.

The Tetris film is to be produced by Threshold’s chairman Larry Kasanoff, while executive producer roles fall to Jimmy Ienner and The Tetris Company.

What started as a simple, computer puzzle game 30 years ago, today is part of our global consciousness, connecting people of all ages andbackgrounds and feeding our innate desire to create order out of chaos,” said Henk Rogers, MD of The Tetris Company.

We look forward to partnering with Threshold Entertainment to re-imagine that common experience and bring a spectacular newTetris universe to the big screen for the first time. In this new universe, as you’ll soon find out, there’s much more to Tetris than simplyclearing lines.”

Kasanoff added: "Everyone knows that Tetris is one of the best known, most beloved brands in the world. What everyone doesn’t know yet isthis epic sci–fi story that we’re going to tell. That’s what’s really exciting."
