Activision signs Walking Dead TV stars for Walking Dead: Survival Instinct

Two stars of The Walking Dead TV series have signed up to provide their likenesses to Activision’s game of the same name.

Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker, who play Daryl Dixon and Merle Dixon respectively, will both reprise their TV roles for the game, which is being developed by Terminal Reality.

Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is due for release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in 2013.

Developer Telltale has enjoyed great success with its own Walking Dead game this year, which was released episodically via download.

That series was more closely tied to the comic, while Activision’s will take queues from the TV show. That’s not the only differentiator, of course – Telltale stuck true to its point and click roots while Activision is embarking on the more conventional FPS route.
