Warner warns that Batman: Arkham Knight on PC may never be fixed

For the first time Warner has admitted that some of the technical issues plaguing Batman: Arkham Knight on PC may never be fully addressed.

The game was pulled from sale shortly after its release on Steam in the summer thanks to significant performance issues for many users and a number of missing graphical features. Four months later it was last week re-released, but issues have continued for many.

Eurogamer said of the newer build that it’s safe to say that the changes do not go far enough” and that the level of optimisation has not moved on much at all from last month’s interim patch”.

Added the site: This is a wholly sub-optimal release that remains one of the most disappointing PC versions we’ve played – improvements have been made since launch, but we can’t help but wonder just how much work has gone into getting this game into shape – especially in the last month since the interim patch was deployed.”

Warner has now gone as far as to admit that it may never address all of the issues troubling the title and is offering unconditional refunds on the game through until the end of the year.

We are very sorry that many of our customers continue to be unhappy with the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight. We worked hard to get the game to live up to the standard you deserve but understand that many of you are still experiencing issues,” it said.

For those of you that hold onto the game, we are going to continue to address the issues that we can fix and talk to you about the issues that we cannot fix.”

The statement is a far cry from the promises made by the company back in June, when it insisted that it was determined to deliver the working game buyers had paid for.

We take these issues very seriously and have therefore decided to suspend future game sales of the PC version while we work to address these issues to satisfy our quality standards,” it said.

The Batman: Arkham fans have continually supported the franchise to its current height of success, and we want to thank you for your patience as we work to deliver an updated version of Batman: Arkham Knight on PC so you can all enjoy the final chapter of the Batman: Arkham series as it was meant to be played.

We greatly value our customers and know that while there are a significant amount of players who are enjoying the game on PC, we want to do whatever we can to make the experience better for PC players overall.”
