Borderlands 2 creative director joins Robot Entertainment

Orcs Must Die! developer Robot Entertainment has announced the hiring of former Borderlands 2 creative director and BioShock lead designer Paul Hellquist.

Hellquist joins the company as its lead designer and has started working on the studio’s upcoming free-to-play PvP action game Orcs Must Die! Unchained – currently in closed beta.

"His remarkable portfolio of work is clearly well-earned. Paul is a great fit for Robot, and I expect him to have a profound impact on the games we make, starting with Orcs Must Die! Unchained," Robot Entertainment CEO Patrick Hudson wrote in the company’s blog post announcement.

Hellquist himself added the following statement via Gamasutra:

"It’s always difficult to leave a place you’ve spent a huge chunk of your career, but it is always exciting as well. Robot has a great track record and I’m thrilled to join the talented and veteran team. I look forward to adding my perspective and skills to Orcs Must Die! Unchained and future projects.”

The platform launched after a Telegram MVP that reached more than 900,000 users and tracked nearly $15 million in gaming assets.
