2K Australia working on new Borderlands title – report

A ‘pre-sequel’ Borderlands game is in development.

This is according to retailer GamePointsNow, which claims to have received exclusive information about Gearbox’s series.

In February, the studio’s CEO and president Randy Pitchford said that Borderlands 3 was not in the works, which obviously does not rule out this rumour.

The new title will be coming to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC and is set in the five-year gap between Borderlands 1 and 2. The co-op shooter will take place on a moon base and is being developed by 2K Australia.

New gameplay additions include laser and freezing weapons, as well as jetpacks. And of course, four new characters will be playable.

Neither Take-Two nor Gearbox have officially said anything on the matter. According to GamePointsNow, a 2014 release date is likely.

Don’t worry, we are as skeptical as you are.
