Acclaimed indie game Papers, Please is coming to iPad later this week

Lucas Pope’s highly acclaimed indie hit Papers, Please is set to arrive on iPad later this week.

The game puts players in the shoes of an immigration officer at the border checkpoint for the fictional dystopian nation Arstotzka.

As the days drag by, players must balance the need to keep their family fed and healthy with the need to do their job correctly and not give into the temptation of lying to earn extra cash.

There’s also the danger of terrorist attacks, the challenge of dealing with government inspectors and the appeals of people searching for their family and loved ones.

Papers, Please was originally released for PC last year, and subsequently won a number of awards at this year’s Independent Games Festival Awards, including the Seumas McNally Grand Prize.

The game has now sold more than half a million copies on PC.

Creator Lucas Pope, who formerly worked on the Uncharted series at Naughty Dog before leaving to spark his solo career, tweeted an image of the game on an iPad complete with the release date.

He had previously expressed worry that Apple’s iOS App Store restrictions would block the game’s release on the platform, due to its political content.
