Activision offers a helping hand to last-gen Destiny players with free flash drive

Publisher Activision appears to be going above and beyond to help out those who are still playing Destiny on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Bungie’s recent The Taken King update patch for Destiny brings with it a hefty download for those who wish to digitally update their existing disc game. For Xbox 360 owners the download is 10GB, while on PS3 it’s 20GB.

This poses a problem for the small number of owners whose machines have either a low-capacity hard drive or no hard drive at all.

Activision had previously said that Destiny players with existing and active” accounts who face a problem can contact the company for a solution. That solution, GameSpot reports, involves sending a free 32GB flash drive out to said players.

This doesn’t immediately solve every problem, however. Destiny’s digital files still need to be installed onto an HDD. Users may be able to transfer some existing data on the flash drive to free up enough space. Alternatively, a patch enabling flash drive installation is on the way, although it has not yet been dated.

Destiny: The Taken King will be released on September 15th.
