Additional monthly subscription fee added to Sky Go on consoles – report

A monthly subscription will be needed to access Sky Go on games consoles in the near future.

That’s according to a report from Digital Spy which claims that Sky is to revamp and rebrand the service as Sky Go Extra on July 29th, bringing with a 5 per month access charge.

Sky Go is currently free to subscribers of Sky’s satellite service, allowing them to access content over the internet on a range of devices when away from their home TV setup.

It’s currently available on 360 but will be coming to Xbox One, as well as both of Sony’s consoles, in the summer.

Some additional functionality will accompany the price increase, although this hasn’t been detailed.

There’s no word of changes to Sky’s Now TV service, which offers a range of pricing options for entertainment, sports and film content.
