All Blockbuster UK stores to shut down

Managers at UK Blockbusters stores have this morning been told that every outlet is to close, MCV has learned.

The bad news was apparently delivered over the phone by Blockbuster UK operations manager Dave Potter.

MCV has received confirmation from three seperate stores not included on yesterday’s list of 72 earmarked for closure that they will cease operating before Christmas.

Other stores have indicated to MCV that they don’t know how much longer they will be trading for.

A separate source has suggested that all Blockbuster UK stores will be closed by December 20th.

So far no official confirmation has been obtained from either Blockbuster or administrators Moorfields Corporate Recovery.

If true, the closure will mean the loss of 2,000 jobs across Blockbuster’s 264 UK stores.
