AMD says PS5 and Xbox Two will arrive sooner than you think

Don’t expect PS4 and Xbox One to hand around as long as their predecessors.

That’s according to components supplier AMD which says that Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are already planning their successors.

The life cycle of the products are probably going to be shorter,” AMD’s senior VRP and CFO Devinder Kumar said of current-gen machines during a Q&A session at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Global Technology Conference, Examiner reports.

Our customers are already thinking about what comes next.”

AMD supplies the key innards for PS4, Xbox One and Wii U.

Xbox 360 debuted in Nov 2005 followed by PS3 a year later and Wii in Dec 2006. That means each machine enjoyed eight, seven and six years on the market respectively before their successors were launched.
