Apple to buy Chinese games firm?

Apple is poised to buy a Chinese web game developer for almost $150m, according to a new report.

A spokesperson for Handseeing in China claims that Apple is wants to acquire the firm. It would be Apple’s first acquisition in the country.

Handseeing develops a number of PC web games in Japan. Last year it got 50 million RMB investment from Green Pine Capital Partners.

"We should have a decision in about one or two months," Tian Bo, vice-president for operations told Reuters.

"They’re still talking about it and it’s not quite settled yet right now."

Chinese paper Global Times says other international and local firms were keen to buy Handseeing – and is the source of the $147.62m price tag placed on the firm.

The report claims that at the very least, Apple might be interested in joining a number of firms in taking a stake and buying shares in the firm.
