Apple Watch approaching 1m US pre-orders after first day – report

Digital shopping research firm Slice Intelligence estimates the Apple Watch moved 957,000 pre-orders on its first day offered in the US.

Games Industry reports on Slice’s results, which are based on the company’s panel of more than 2m online shoppers who anonymously provide e-receiptsof digital purchases on a daily basis.

62 per cent of the pre-orders included the Sport edition line of watches, ranging $350-$400 depending on size. 70 per cent of folks who purchased either the Sport or standard Apple Watch preferred the 42mm over the 38mm band.

Many customers went beyond just a single device purchase as well, with transactions averaging 1.3 watches per order.

Unsurprisingly, Slice found that 72 per cent of pre-orders came from repeat Apple customers.
