Atari returns as ‘interactive entertainment production’ company

Atari Interactive has detailed plans to resurrect itself AGAIN, this time as an interactive entertainment production company,” with a focus on licensing, digital games, online gambling and more.

The company will look to continue expanding its classic arcade titles including Asteroids, Centipede and Pong onto digital platforms such as mobile and PC, as well as produce real-money gambling titles for online casinos.

The firm also touched on its aim at capitalizing on other rapidly growing markets and reaching out to new audiences," specifically mentioning YouTube users and LGBT individuals as examples.

"Atari is more than a game publishing company; it’s an iconic brand that has established a passionate and timeless culture," Atari CEO Fred Chesnais said.

"We are leading a rebuilding exercise in a highly volatile industry, so at the same time we are also aware of the challenges that lay ahead."
