Big Fish now accepting Bitcoin for online games

Casual games platform Big Fish has announced a partnership with Coinbase to accept BitCoin currency as payment for games and in-app purchases.

The new payment option is available now for the company’s Windows PC and Mac titles. Users can use the digital currency to buy products direct from Big Fish’s website, or with in-app purchasing in games such as Big Fish Casino and Room of Memory.

"Being able to offer Bitcoin payments to our consumers through Coinbase is just one more way Big Fish is meeting demand and setting the pace for the mainstream consumer and for the mainstream industry," said Big Fish CEO Paul Thelen.

"This is not a test, this payment method will be available worldwide for all of Big Fish PC and Mac games in the Big Fish app store."

Zynga, another producer of casual games, announced in January that it is "conducting a test” with Bitcoin across several of its titles: FarmVille 2, CastleVille 2, ChefVille, CoasterVille, Hidden Chronicles, Hidden Shadows and CityVille.
