Bungie launches mobile venture

Halo creator Bungie has launched a new venture into mobile and social games: Bungie Aerospace.

The initiative has been created to help independent developers create titles for mobile platforms and social networks. Bungie will offer resources, access to Bungie.net and encourage its community to check out its partners’ new games.

"Bungie has always been passionate about making and playing great games, regardless of platform," said Bungie COO Pete Parsons. "Bungie Aerospace will allow us to explore game creation in multiple formats with some amazingly talented teams. Now that we’ve returned to our roots as an independent studio, we are in a position to launch Bungie Aerospace to support, foster and elevate like-minded, independent developers."

The first official partner of Bungie Aerospace is Harebrained Schemes, a studio led by Jordan Weisman who is know for his work on Shadowrun, MechWarrior and the Halo 2 "I Love Bees" alternate reality game. The firm’s first title will be entitled Crimson.
