Confident Konami questions FIFA 13 innovation

If a publisher’s confidence in an upcoming title is any measure of how good it is, then PES 2013 could turn out to be a very solid title indeed.

So much so, in fact, that Konami’s UK PES team leader Jon Murphy has pointed the finger at rival licence FIFA, suggesting that EA has run out of innovative ideas.

We always focused on gameplay and that’s what we want to get back to,” he told OPM. Maybe EA thinks they’ve gone far enough with gameplay and they’ve got other things to do – maybe they want to attract a different kind of audience with different features.

But I’ve always thought it’s right that we should be concentrating really hard on the way you play a game against someone else, and that unique PES feeling, which is all about gameplay.”

We may have heard it all before, but PES 2013 looks like it could be a genuine reinvention for the once great series.
