Analyst convinced Wii HD is coming

Games analyst Michael Pachter has reignited the

recent Wii HD rumours

by stating that he believes such a move would strengthen Nintendo’s already strong position in the games market.

The platform holder recently unveiled its third iteration of its handheld DS console, but has so far not made noises about a possible Wii redesign.

However, speaking to AFP about Wii’s ongoing struggle to appeal to the hardcore games market, Michael Pachter stated: Nintendo has to overcome that. Wii HD would really position Nintendo well, which is why I’m absolutely convinced there is a Wii HD coming. Business wise, they can’t have people saying that their machine is a toy for my mom.”

Nintendo came under attack from ‘core’ earlier this year following its E3 press briefing. However, upcoming adult titles such as Madworld and Death Watch, as well as the infamous Manhunt 2, do appear to be tapping into the traditional games market.
