Canadian dev making new Resident Evil

Japanese publisher Capcom has drafted in Canadian studio Slant Six Games to develop a brand new addition to the Resident Evil series.

Slant Six is known to most gamers as the studio behind three of Sony’s SOCOM games – Tactical Strike and Fireteam Bravo 3 on PSP and online-only PS3 SKU SOCOM: Confrontation.

Stickskills reports that the latest issue of Official Xbox Magazine US has the scoop on the first details.

Called Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, the game sees players star as a member of an Umbrella Security Services team whose job it is to contain the zombie outbreak and eliminate any survivors.

It’ set between RE2 and RE3 and apparently is liberal with its use of official Resident Evil canon. Well established characters from the series could even meet their end in what should be a real treat for fans.

Operation Raccoon City is due out on both PS3 and Xbox 360 some time this Q4.

Yesterday Capcom confirmed that it is to re-release both Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica in HD via the PlayStation network and Xbox Live.
