E3 2012: More details on Gears of War Judgement

Gears of War: Judgement, which is being made by Bulletstorm developer People Can Fly, will be set 15 years before the events of the first game in the series.

It sees series’ protagonists Baird and his Kilo Squad stand trial for transgression against the Coalition of Governments”.

The accusations include desertion, cowardice, trespassing, theft of military tech and treason”.

People Can Fly say that the omission of the series’ iconic hero Marcus Fenix is deliberate, preferring instead to opt for a fresh” take on the GOW universe that offers more creative flexibility.

That’s not where the changes end, either.

The multiplayer component will for the first time feature a class-based system. The COG armies can choose between soldier, scout, medic and engineer while the Locusts have wretch, ticker, kantus, grenadier, bloodmount, mauler, serapede and corpse – all of which boast a far wider assortment of specialities that you’d typically find in such a title.

Expect more details about the title to be revealed at Microsoft’s E3 press conference at 5pm tonight.
