Flappy Bird to return in August with multiplayer – report

Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen is reportedly planning on re-releasing his controversial mobile hit this August.

Nguyen revealed in March that he was planning a re-release with some improvements, but now CNBC is reporting a multiplayer component will be added.

"Flappy Bird’s Dong Nguyen: Flappy Bird is coming back. Multiplayer. August," CNBC’s Kelly Evans stated on Twitter.

Nguyen pulled the game from Apple’s App Store and Google Play in February due to mounting online abuse aimed in his direction – adding that he also believed the game to be too addictive.

.Gears Studio – Nguyen’s company – is currently working on other titles as well, with the developer already having released iOS game Smashing Kitty since Flappy Bird’s removal.
