Internet Archive releases 2,000 retro titles as free browser offerings

A bevy of classic video games are now available to play for free via your browser, including The Oregon Trail, King’s Quest, Wolfenstein 3D, Metal Gear and more.

Polygon reports on Internet Archive’s release of the Software Library, which uses an EM_DOSBOX in-browser emulator to run its programs – in this case, notable retro titles such as Prince of Persia and Ms. Pac-Man.

Console classics like Mega Man, Street Fighter II, The Lion King and the Sega Genesis release of Aladdin are also among the 2,300+ titles to choose from.

Internet Archive notes that the library’s browser-based emulation is still in beta and may run improperly at times. A FAQ is provided here, for those interested.
