Inversion set for February 2012

Namco Bandai’s upcoming shooter Inversion will hit European shelves on Friday, February 10th 2012.

The publisher told MCV it was planting its flag in the ground early” so that rival firms know to avoid releasing anything similar.

The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game is a third person shooter that uses gravity to defeat enemies, which Namco Bandai’s US VP Carlson Choi said would ‘reinvent the shooter genre’.

The game’s producer Rick White told MCV that the majority of the game has been completed, and that the next 12 months will be spent building awareness for the title and ensuring quality is high. He says the internal aim is to get a Metacritic score in the high 80s or low 90s.

Inversion will launch in the US on Tuesday, February 7th. It makes use of the Havok engine and features destructible scenery.

The announcement is part of Namco Bandai’s Ignite event in San Francisco
