Kojima Productions adopts co-op for MGS

Kojima Productions has joined the growing list of high-profile game developers rushing to include online-cooperative play in their games.

Specifically, the Kojima’s upcoming PSP game – Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker – appears to be centred on the very notion of co-operative play.

Kotaku has posted a YouTube video of the upcoming title, depicting a lonesome lead protagonist who’s seemingly unable to fight through the masses of enemies in the game. That is, until a new character enters the fray:

Along with the release of Metal Gear Solid 4, Kojima Productions released Metal Gear Solid Online, an network deathmatch game based in the Metal Gear universe. Peace Walker, it seems, is out to accelerate the studio’s use of online play.

What remains unknown is if Peace Walker will still be playable without online co-op. The trailer concludes with the message,

“To be continued… Tokyo Game Show 2009.”
