Limbo is No.1 XBLA summer game

Acclaimed platformer Limbo is the best-selling Xbox Live game of the summer, Microsoft has revealed.

The downloadable Xbox 360 exclusive was released as part of the Summer of Arcade promotion in July which also featured Square Enix’s Lara Croft & The Guardian of Light.

Our number one Summer of Arcade game is Limbo – by a long stretch,” Microsoft Games Studios VP Phil Spencer told Joystiq.

I think there was a time when Live Arcade was about IP that people knew, and those games are always going to be important.

It’s changing though. I really think that with Braid, Shadow Complex and Limbo that the market is becoming less about iconic IP that people know, and is instead becoming more diverse.”

Microsoft’s next Xbox Live promotion is Game Feast. This kicks off with action adventure Hydrophobia on September 29th, and will be followed by Comic superhero action title Jumper, Pinball FX 2 and platformer Super Meat Boy.
