MGS Rising unlikely to arrive next year

The next instalment in the Metal Gear Solid series on consoles is unlikely to be released until 2012, according to online reports.

Kotaku claims that Metal Gear Solid: Rising, which is set some time between the events of the second and fourth instalments in the series, will not make it to market in 2011.

No official release date had ever been issued for the game, but next year seemed a likely release window for the game considering it was first unveiled in 2009.

Question marks still hang over the Rising’s potential support of motion controllers such as Kinect and Move. At last year’s E3 it appeared as if motion support had been announced for the game, though creative producer Shigenobu Matsuyama later clarified that nothing had at that stage been decided.

Metal Gear Solid: Rising is due out simultaneously on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
