New mag targets anime-based games

Media start-up MyMags is putting the finishing touches to its unique games magazine, which launches next month.

MyM will focus on anime-based video games, as well as the TV series, movies and books that inspired them.

A sample issue was handed out to attendees at the first Birmingham MCM Expo last month. The first full issue hits shelves on May 3rd, priced at 3.45.

We feel equipped and that we have the right people involved to make it happen and make it special,” says publisher Tarik Alozdi.

The design is looking really good, and we’ve got all the shows booked up so we can show fans the magazine in advance.

Current anime-based media isn’t really taken seriously for its games coverage. MyM is different because we have established journalists reviewing games in a waythat gamers are accustomed to.”

Freelance journalist and former Beefjack reviews editor Martin Wharmby has been hired as games editor. Other members of the 10-strong team hail from DVD Review, Neo and a mix of official and independent games magazines.
