New MK can set sales record, says Midway

Midway has set its sights on Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe becoming the biggest fighting game yet on next-gen systems after the game enjoyed a rapturous reception at E3.

The game pits the Mortal Kombat characters against heroes from the world of DC Comics, including Superman and Batman.

The E3 press has been impressed with the graphics and the speed of MK,” said European marketing director Leonie Manshanden. There are things in there you can simply not do in other games – it’s a real genre definer.

The press has witnessed all the stuff the DC universe brings to the title and are really buzzing about it.

We have very high sales expectations for MK vs DC. I can’t tell you the exact number, but historically if you look at the franchise, every new MK on a new platform has done best. It’s always enjoyed that upward trend. With this installment we really think we’re going to set another record.”
