PSN gets Mega Drive classics

A collection of Mega Drive games on PS3 will be free to download for PSN+ subscribers.

The first digital title – Sonic the Hedgehog – hit the PlayStation Store yesterday and five others will arrive over the next few months.

These include Sonic 2, Streets of Rage 2, Altered Beast and Golden Axe II, which all feature online co-op modes. Comix Zone will arrive at a later date.

All games will also be available for non-PSN+ members with a price tag of 3.19 each, around two weeks after PSN+ subscribers can access them for free. They will also include unlockable trophies.

– Streets of Rage 2 – May 4th (PSN+), May 18th (PS Store)
– Golden Axe II – June 1st (PSN+), June 15th (PS Store)

PSN+ is the paid-for download service that gives PS3 owners access to free and exclusive content. It costs 39.99 for a 12-month subscription or 11.99 for 90 days.
