Publisher Atlus dissolved

Shin Megami Tensei publisher Atlus has been dissolved by its parent company Index Holdings.

Gamasutra reports that the label may, however, live on in one form or another with Index pledging to to streamline its business focus to profitable core areas”. The company acquired Atlus in November 2006.

Atlus is best known in the west for Shin Megami Tensei, Persona, Trauma Center and Etrian Odyssey series, as well recent hits such as 3D Dot Game Heroes and Zeno Clash.

Other titles to be published by Atlus include Bomberman Land Touch on DS, curious Xbox adventure Galleon and PS2 RPG Disgaea: Hour of Darkness as well as Steambot Chronicles, R-Type Command, Guilty Gear, Super Robot Taisen, Metal Slug XX, Double Dragon Advance, Odin Sphere and Cave shooters Guwange and DonPachi.

It is also the publisher behind the upcoming adult-themed PS3 and Xbox 360 outing Catherine, which has been getting plenty of attention in the Japanese and core UK press.
