Wii to get dedicated Speak Channel

Alongside news of

a new DS

, a

dedicated online content system

and

GameCube re-releases for the Wii

, Nintendo has now confirmed that it is to launch a new Wii Speak Channel,

Kotaku

reports.

The free software will allow users equipped with the upcoming Wii Speak device, which comes bundled with Animal Crossing: Let’s Go to the City, to voice chat with friends on Nintendo’s wi-fi network.

When in use, players will be represented by their Mii’s, which will mimic the vocals of the user.

The Wii Speak hardware will be available as a standalone package in North America on November 16th and will retail for $29.99. There’s no word yet on the European release date.
