David Attenborough making Oculus Rift documentary

Famed nature documentary maker David Attenborough’s next show will also be available for Oculus Rift.

Real Screen reports that the creators of Conquest of the Skies, which is currently being shot in Borneo for Sky 3D, have already secured several Oculus developer kits.

We’re now filming for the Oculus Rift,” Atlantic Productions’ commercial director John Morris said. When we filmed our recent flight in Borneo, we filmed with an eight-camera rig, so you got the full 360 experience.

In terms of the creative challenge, we look at this as being comparable to the beginning of the film industry. [VR tech is] a new platform you can monetise. I think we’ll see millions of [Rift headsets] being sold.”

Conquest of the Skies will be split across two 90 minute shows and is due for broadcast later this year.
