Destiny sales reach $325m in first five days

Activision has confirmed the first actual sales data for Bungie’s Destiny.

The game sold-through” more than $325m worldwide in its first five days on PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360, according to an assortment of data sources.

With the publisher having already confirmed that it had sold $500m of stock into retail in the game’s first 24 hours, that presumably means that $175m worth of stock is still available.

Activision alsoreiterated previous reportsthat Destiny has enjoyed the biggest launch ever for a new IP.

"Destiny fans played more than 100m hours of the game in the first week,” Activision publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said. That’s on par with the engagement levels of our most popular Call of Duty games, which obviously is an industry leader.

Millions of gamers are having a great time playing Destiny and can’t put down their controllers. And this is just the beginning. Destiny is a platform that will grow and evolve and we will continue to work closely with our partners at Bungie to bring a long line of new experiences and content to life in the game."
