Dishonored dev Arkane Austin working on Prey 2 – rumour

Prey 2 has been resurrected once again and is now in the hands of Dishonored creators Arkane Austin, it is being claimed.

Kotaku reports that the game, which has been in limbo since losing developer Human Head Studios, has been forced onto Arkane by Bethesda despite that facts that some of the devs at the studio don’t want to make the game”.

Bethesda had been trying for a few months now to convince Arkane to work on the game,” the report reads. Last week… Bethesda finally forced their hand: Arkane would develop Prey 2, scrapping all the work that Human Head has done and starting from scratch, with a targeted release date of late 2016.

Some people at Arkane Austin are upset about this decision… but higher-ups at the company are telling the team to forget that it’s called Prey 2 and just treat it like a new System Shock.”

It is also claimed that at some stage in the intervening period the game was being handled for at least a few months” by none other than Fallout New Vegas and Knights of the Old Republic II dev Obsidian.

UK studio Rebellion also reportedly turned down the chance to work on the game.
