Dragon Age getting live-action web series

Ahead of the release of Dragon Age II on March 11th, it has been announced that the BioWare RPG is to get a spin-off live-action web series.

USA Today reports that Felicia Day, the women behind popular web-based comedy series The Guild, will both write and star in the new show.

The six episode series will be based in Dragon Age’s fantasy world of Ferelden and will focus on the exploits of an elven assassin named Tallis.

"I am an organic gamer and I love games, and I particularly love this franchise," Day stated.

"I put every single effort into making this something that gamers will be proud of. Just being able to make a Web series that is tied with such a huge property … really the premier role-playing game out there, this is a dream project come true.

"Even though we were constrained a lot as a Web series, none of the people who were involved took that as a constraint. They took that as a challenge. They are going to take this a step above what we have seen on the Web before."

BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk added: "We are really, really excited to work with people like her who have a passion and appreciation for the content and a really good history of quality. That’s who we want to work with."

The series is due for release some time this year.
