Draw Something dev OMGPOP acquired by Zynga

OMGPOP, developer of the popular and addictive Pictionary style app Draw Something, has been acquired by Zynga.

The social and online games publisher officially announced the news after a day or two of widespread speculation on the potential acquisition.

"The OMGPOP team has created a game that’s fun, expressive and engenders real social interaction," Zynga founder and CEO Mark Pincus stated. "Draw Something has captured the imagination of millions of people around the world."

Although the app is just six weeks old, Draw Something has already been downloaded over 35m times across iOS and Android devices.

The official announcement doesn’t reveal the cost of the acquisition, but All Things D reports that the company was purchased for a sum around $200m.
