[Event news] Summer Game Fest: PlanetPlay’s Green Games Showcase joins official lineup

PlanetPlay (www.planetplay.com), the award-winning not-for-profit platform that channels the power of games into real-world impact, is excited to announce that its Green Games Showcase will feature as part of the official Summer Game Fest 2026 (www.summergamefest.com) line-up.

 

Premiering on Saturday, June 6 at 11am Pacific Time at https://www.youtube.com/thegameawards, the Green Games Showcase will shine a Summer Game Fest spotlight on PC games that reconnect us with nature, spark hope for the future, and remind us what’s worth protecting – including both upcoming and established titles.

 

The Showcase has been produced by PlanetPlay in partnership with the Good Game Club podcast, which explores the untapped power of video games, and the positive impact digital play can have on people and the planet. 

 

The Green Games Showcase aims to encourage thoughtful discussion around how games can contribute positively to environmental awareness and action, while recognising that sustainability across the games industry remains an ongoing journey.

 

It will be hosted by Anjali Bhimani, an award-winning actor, voice artist, author and longtime games community advocate best known to players as the voices of Symmetra in Overwatch and Rampart in Apex Legends. PlanetPlay’s Chief Strategy Officer & Good Game Club host, Jude Ower MBE, will co-host alongside Anjali. 

 

The Green Games Showcase will be streamed on June 6 at 11am PT via the Summer Game Fest YouTube and Twitch channels, supported by a Steam Wishlist enabling players to discover and support featured titles.

 

Spotlighting Games That Make a Difference

 

The Green Games Showcase will feature a specially curated line-up of PC titles that educate, entertain and inspire when it comes to environmental themes and sustainability messaging as gameplay experiences.

 

Participating studios and publishers include Envar Games, FDG Entertainment, Fellow Traveller, Firesquid, Fireline Games, Funcom, Gamedev.ist, Goblinz Publishing, Inlusio Interactive, Knights Peak, Lente, Luden.io, NEARStudios, Positive Impact Games, rokaplay, Slug Disco, Speldosa Interactive, Square Glade Games, Team17, The Game Bakers, The Game Bakers, Toplitz Productions, UNIKAT Label, Wie Anders Games and Yaldi Games.

 

From indie innovators to established global developers, the Showcase demonstrates how games can inspire awareness and encourage behavioural change.

 

A Showcase With Purpose

 

Any profits generated by PlanetPlay through the 2026 Green Games Showcase, presented in partnership with the Good Game Club podcast, will be channelled to the Gold Standard-certified Green.Earth Hongera Energy Efficient Cookstoves Project in Kenya.

 

This project provides cleaner, more efficient cookstoves to rural communities, reducing carbon emissions, limiting deforestation and improving health outcomes for thousands of households.

 

Building Green Games Momentum

 

The Showcase complements PlanetPlay’s broader initiatives, including Make Green Moves, Play2Act (with UNDP), and major 2026 campaign Battle for the Habitats, all designed to make environmental action accessible through gameplay.
