Chromecast arrives in the UK

UK shoppers can from today officially get their hands on the Google Chromecast.

It works by plugging into the HDMI slot in your HD TV and streaming video content from either a PC running Chrome or an Android or iOS device. It doesn’t ship with a remote and is instead controlled by the device from which it is streaming.

Also offered is video streaming from services such as YouTube, Netflix and iPlayer and is of course compatible with any content purchased on Google Play.

Currys/PC World, which is the first official UK stockist, has it available online for just 30. It’s expected to arrive at other retailers from the end of next month.
