DeNA’s influence grows as revenues and profits jump

Japanese social games giant DeNA has reported a 45 per cent jump in quarterly revenue to $627m.

Profits were up 38 per cent year-on-year at $254m.

The company’s Moba-coin virtual currency also set a new high, grossing $700m from mobile games in Japan. Coin consumption was for the first time higher on smartphones than feature phones, leading DeNA to conclude this its shift in platform is proving a success.

Coin consumption outside of Japan reached $30m. Average revenue per daily active user across its six Google Play titles in America and Europe has reached $1.

In our second quarter we continued to see steady growth internationally, as well as in Japan,” CEO Isao Moriyasu stated. In order to build the world’s top social games platform, we must stay focused on expanding our audience and delighting our customers with exciting games that will keep them engaged.”
