GameStation not under threat

GAME Group’s decision to expand upon its previously announced store closure programme does not, as some have feared, mean the end of the Gamestation brand.

That’s the claim of interim CEO Christopher Bell, who when asked by MCV if the Gamestation brand still has a future gave the following blank answer: Yes, it does.”

The merger of GAME and Gamestation and the subsequent closing of Gamestation’s York-based HQ has saved GAME Group in the region of 6m.

However, further cost cutting has seen both a fresh round of store closures and a reduction of hours for many of its staff.
