Kickstarter to include UK projects from this autumn

UK creative types will from this autumn have the option of Kickstarting their ideas.

That’s because one of the biggest success stories of 2012, crowd-funding platform Kickstarter, is to launch in the UK this autumn.

As reported last month, Kickstarter has to date led to the successful bankrolling of over 699 game projects, three of which raised over $1m through the portal. Over 60,000 have been launched on the site overall.

The highest profile Kickstarter campaign to date is Double Fine Adventure, which saw Tim Schafer’s studio – which has in the past created hits such as Secret of Monkey Island and Psychonauts – raise over$3m.

UK residents have always been able to contribute to projects but this will be the first time that UK based individuals or companies will be able to pitch their products.
