Xbox One outsold PS4 in September in US, analyst claims

Michael Pachter says that the Xbox One outsold the PS4 in the US in September.

VentureBeat reports that the analyst estimates sales of 325k for Microsoft’s machine throughout the month compared to Sony’s 250k sales.

The result is interesting as September saw the release of the record-breaking Destiny, which itself enjoyed a strong marketing tie-up with PS4 – leading to a big sales boost for PS4 in the UK.

It seems like things may be different across the Atlantic, however, despite that fact that in the lead up to September PS4 had outsold Xbox One on a monthly basis for eight months on the trot.

It would be only the second time Xbox One has beat PS4 in the region and was perhaps prompted by Microsoft’s free game giveaway in the US

The official NPD numbers will be released on Thursday.
