Exciting Zavvi news on the way

A new teaser page on

the Zavvi website

claims that ‘exciting’ news about the now-passed retailer will be announced tomorrow – Monday 2nd March, and more specifically, at 10am.

The most likely news relates to Zavvi boss Simon Douglas who bought up five of his former outlets for his new retail venture, Head Entertainment.

A buyout from a retail rival is unlikely, with leading video game retailer GAME having previously declared itself out of any possible acquisition race and HMV’s purchase of nine ex-Zavvi stores currently under investigation from the OFT.

After a prolonged period of gradual store closures Zavvi finally ceased trading on February 20th.
