Exploding Kittens claims Kickstarter funding record from Ouya

Exploding Kittens crowdfunding campaign has taken over the Kickstarter record from Ouya for the highest-funded games-related project.

The Kickstarter run concluded last week having raised $8,782,571 – $186,097 more than Ouya’s final total. Exploding Kittens continues to hold Kickstarter’s backer record as well, which swelled to 219,382 individuals by the end of the campaign.

The aforementioned funding total Exploding Kittens amassed is also the third highest in Kickstarter history.

The card game is being developed by Xbox game designers Elan Lee and Shane Small, along with The Oatmeal’s Matthew Inman.
