Final Fantasy brand "has been greatly damaged"

Speaking frankly at a Tokyo press conference, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada has admitted that the Final Fantasy brand has been greatly damaged” the technical woes suffered by MMO title Final Fantasy XIV.

The game launched last year and was instantly dogged by a host of technical hiccups and design faults. The result was that players have been able to spend a considerable amount of time playing the title without ever being charged.

"We’ll continue with our reform work, which basically amounts to fully redoing the game, and hope to revive the FFXIV that should have been released,” he stated, as reported by Andriasang.

The publisher is currently working on its first online title in the Dragon quest series, DQ X.
