Focus Multimedia achieves record market share

UK publisher Focus Multimedia dominated the budget market in October 2011, achieving its largest ever market share in a single month.

The firm accounted for 31.4 per cent of all budget PC software sales in terms of units, according to last month’s GfK Chart-Track report. By contrast, Focus’ nearest competitor held 16.8 per cent market share.

The same report shows Focus had a market share of 27.6 per cent for budget PC games – another record for the company.

"This is a landmark occasion in our 16-year history," said managing director Craig Johnson.

"The constant Focus ethos of quality, choice and value is a driving factor in our success. We have the pleasure of working with some fantastic partners and brands, and we deliver games and software to market infused with our passion, creativity, innovation and enthusiasm."

Focus attributed this triumph partially to its flagship Driving Test Success range, which has sold over 3.5 million copies to date.
