Former Boss Key boss Cliff Bleszinski insists he’ll ‘never’ make another video game

Former Boss Key boss Cliff Bleszinski has told his followers on Twitter that he will "never" make another video game.

Despite initially assuring fans he hoped "to make something new again someday" when the LawBreakers studio folded in May, in a recent clash with a commenter on Twitter, Bleszinski intimated he had no plans to return to the industry (thanks, GamesIndustry.biz).

The tweet he was responding to has now been deleted, but it had originally taken umbrage at Bleszinski for not refunding players who lost out when Boss Key Productions shut down. "You all won’t refund players who stuck with you all and spent money for you all to keep up the content," the now-deleted tweet said. "Cliff I looked up to you during the Gears of War days and sad to see you where you are at. Wish you’d come back. Now all that money is waisted [sic]."

"I paid my employees, their 401ks, and their health care – even months after the studio folded," Bleszinski replied. "So they could care for their families. I didn’t take a salary myself for two years. I get you’re sad, but god, this kinda shit is another reason I am NEVER making another game."

Former Boss Key animator, Zach Lowery, however, challenged Bleszinski on that assertion, tweeting to his former boss: "Hmmm, my severance was only 3 weeks….months must be getting shorter and shorter in retirement," he tweeted.

Bleszinski acknowledged the response, admitting "maybe I used hyperbole. But I’d like to think I did the right thing", then reminded Lowery of "the time I took you and the fam on a private jet on our own dime to Nola? C’mon, man." When people queried Bleszinski further on his claims, he insisted he and Lowery were just "ribbing each other".
