Fourth Resident Evil film confirmed

Love them or hate them, the Resident Evil movie series has been a very profitable venture for both distributor Screen Gems and IP holder Capcom – so news of a fourth film in the series will clearly be good news for some.

Resident Evil: Afterlife will see the return of Milla Jovovich who will resume the role of Alice, according to ShockTillYouDrop. Also returning will be Ali Larter (Claire Redfield) and Spencer Locke (K-Mart).

Wentworth Miller has reportedly signed up to play Chris Redfield, who was also the lead STARS agent in recent release Resident Evil 5.

The film is also set to be shot in 3D, though whether that proves significant is very much dependent on the position of 3D film tech come this time next year.

Paul W.S. Anderson will once again assume director’s duties. Alice’s battle with The Umbrella Corporation isn’t finished,” according to Anderson. Last time we saw Alice, she let them know she was coming after them. It’s time to settle the score.”

Resident Evil: Afterlife is due out in autumn 2010.
