GAME: PS3 and 360 are now ‘played through’

It appears that time is finally up for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

GAME says that the collapse in sales of these two formats have been one of the main reasons behind the retailer’s recent disappointing financial results.

Our results were impacted by the UK console market in transition from old generation to the current generation, but that’s pretty much played through now in terms of PS3 and 360,” said GAME head Martyn Gibbs.

But digital content sales were up 16 per cent, accessories up 19 per cent, and pre-owned mobile phones and tablets were up 60 per cent. eSports and digital service sales were up 45 per cent.

But obviously the UK market suffered a steep fall in sales from older generation software. We think PS3 and 360 will be pretty well played through by January, and that the number will be so low that there will not be any more downside to see in that respect.”
